Going to attempt to excuse our long absence! Mommy thought for a while she had this stuff called 'Free Time' until she realized it was only because she was slacking on doing things, like my blog, that she found herself with time on her hands.

I'm going to post a bunch of pictures of my visit with Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Colleen and Uncle Nick, and Uncle Tim and many, many more peeps in January!

Poppop came for a visit in February...

Check me out! I have a Big Girl bed now! And that's really convenient for Mommy and Daddy because, in case you haven't heard, if all goes well I'll be a big sister in August and someone else will be needing my crib!

News Flash!!! I got my first shiner! Mommy tried to get a good picture, but the flash just isn't doing my black eye justice. It's my right eye. Now I know better than to try to climb into the tub while Mommy is taking a shower. Or so she thinks, anyway. We shall see...

So, we've been hanging out here, checking out the new snow covering the mountain tops. Yes, you read that right, NEW SNOW! In August. Mom and Dad have been lamenting the fact that this is likely the shortest summer they've had since living here (almost nine years, now). We've had snow every month this year so far, except for July. Ah well.

Sometimes I like to help Zack eat his food. Likely Zack would find the usefullness of my assistance arguable.

It wasn't so cold today so Mom took advantage by having me wear a shirt she finished for me last night. Now, she says, she's going to have to start making wintery stuff.

She made a shirt for my cousin, Kayla, too!

More Camping!

We've been whooping it up here at Casa de Cora Jane! In addition we brought our carryings on to Casa de Mother Nature. Me and Mommy and Daddy went camping this weekend with Aunt Jaclyn and our friends, Kijah, Lee, Riley and Bauer. Mom totally dropped the ball with the photo thing. Well, it was innocent enough. She remembered the camera, but didn't realize Dad had put the battery in the charger. And cameras sans chargers are pretty useless. Oh well! Mom felt bad enough that we won't chastise her too much for it. Ms. Kijah was cool enough to share a few photos with us so we could share them with you. It was awesome and I got fantastically dirty!

How many grown-ups does it take to make a camp-style breakfast? Enough that one baby is able to mozy about sampling the local dirt supply.

I got a dirty butt and I cannot lie.

Beaur and I played in a confined space. It only lasted so long. Happily anyways.

Just don't look too closely at the seams. Mom wanted to thank Mom-mom and Great Aunt Peggy for helping her with a pattern for my new dress. This is Mommy's first attempt at sewing:

We've been pretty busy! There are lots o' trees in our yard that need to be gotten rid of, so Daddy brought a big machine home from work to take one down. I got a first class seat...

Me and Grandma in my little house just like the one Great-Grandpa Dutzi made for her when she was little! Mommy's heard lots about Grandpa Dutzi and how much Daddy is like him and she thinks I'd be lucky to catch a few genes from that dude, too! Here's to hoping!

This is my rocking dinosaur. There is a little story behind it. Mommy found it on the internet before I was born and she knew my room would be all dinosaurish and she fell in love with it. It was too expensive, though. Daddy had a trip to take a few weeks before I was born. While he was gone, and promised to keep his cell phone close at hand in case I came earlier than I actually did, he surprised Mommy by having this toy shipped. That and this sweater were the only things they'd really bought before I was born. They wanted me to arrive here safely before they bought many other things.

I love cars and Grandma and Grandpa brought me one! You can also see my new doll baby.

Last weekend me and Mommy and Daddy took our first camping trip together! Mom and Dad have been camping a lot, but they had never gone with me before! I loved it. And was quite the trooper. It's good to know that I'm a Great Outdoors kinda girl, 'cause I'll be doing a lot of it growing up.

Here is our campsite:

I chowed down on some lunch.

One messy, contented, camping girl! Note to babies out there: camping rules 'cause you can get as dirty as you want and there's not much your Mommy and Daddy can do about it!

Me and Dad and Zack went for a walk while Mom got the camper in order.

I got into my jammies and played for a little while longer.

Then it was lights out for Cora Jane!

And look what greeted us when we woke up! Mom might've let a word slip that I'm not to repeat. It's like Christmas in...June.

Needless to say, we cut our trip short. But Mom and Dad are happy to know that I seem to be cut out for this camping stuff!

Then on Friday, my Pop-Pop visited! We had a great time. Playing with paper towels...

I was having a bit of a moment. Both Daddy and I are feeling a bit under the weather for Father's Day.

He worked all weekend on my little house.

And I'll have a place to go when the parental units are bringin' me down. Though, by the time I get that saucy they'll probably start charging me rent. Or at least making me pick up sticks in the yard for my keep.

Just a week shy of thirteen months, I'm now crawling!

Okay, Mom and I realize we have been pretty abysmal about keeping my blog updated. We took a little break. Honestly, uploading photos to blogger is really time consuming and keeping up with it weekly was a little tough. We're still going to update, but not quite as often as we used to. We might be joining a photosharing website and sharing pictures of me that way via e-mail. Much, much easier. Okay, we had a super busy few weeks since my birthday! The day after my birthday we saw Aunt Colleen and Uncle Nick. We visited them for breakfast. I was a little lethargic and after breakfast we were on our way to my friend Brody's birthday party (he was born three days after me and you can see him here!) On the way there, Mom and Dad got really worried because I had been feeling warm and was very, very sleepy.

They pulled into my doctor's office instead. The doctor sent us to the emergency room. My oxygen was really low and Dr. Nations was afraid I had pneumonia. So, we spent the entire day after my birthday at the emergency room. Yuck. But, I was a trooper. And slept most of the time with my blanky over my head just like I do at home.

They sent us home with me on oxygen. I didn't have pneumonia, just a really bad upper respiratory infection. I remained on oxygen for the next week and a half.

We visited with Aunt Colleen and Uncle Nick again and I opened my presents from them and Grandma and Grandpa.

This is the go-cart Daddy is building me.

It's a little too big for me.

But fits him perfectly!

When I'm getting dressed, I like to look out the window at the cars driving by.

Grandma came to visit and pulled me in the wagon she and Grandpa got me for my birthday!

Me and Grandma and Daddy went to the aquarium.

Grandma said goodbye to me. I hope she comes back soon and brings that Grandpa guy, too!

As I get bigger, I'm making bigger messes.

Well all, since on Wednesday we'll be en route to Colorado, I won't be able to update. Mommy'd really like it if you sent us some good baby plane vibes. I was a bit restless on the flight here. Can't blame me as flying is kinda boring, though the people are pretty interesting to look at. And touch. And hand pieces of paper to. Oh, and let's also hope Mommy sits next to someone a little more kid-friendly.

50 Weeks

Another week! Holy cow, you guys, I can't believe how close I'm getting to a year.

A couple of updates:

I drink from a sippy cup like a PRO!

I now say 'Kitty' when I see my furry friends. Actually it comes out sounding more like 'Kkkkkkk' but you know. I've got time to perfect it.

I have five teeth. Two on top (with another about to bust through) and three on the bottom.

Onto the good stuff...

Sometimes I am a very neat eater...

Other times, not so much...

Mom heard that if you let kids feed themselves, no matter how messy it gets, they'll learn quicker. I am thoroughly enjoying that approach.

Check it out! I got wheels!

Just wait until Daddy and Uncle Keith take me and Alex four-wheeling on Fridays when our Mommies are working! Now that'll be some wheels!

Me and Mommy and Daddy went to Denver on Sunday to get away.

Dad and I took a pit stop so I could fill 'er up.

I went for a ride before we left. Everyone in the mall stopped to watch.

Then we went to the park.

I liked the slide.

And the swing, as you probably already know.

I'm not crawling in the conventional way just yet, but I get around!

Some are saying they see gymnastics in my future.

49 Is Divine...

Hey everyone! This is Cora's Mommy. She's hanging out with Daddy today down in Denver and I'm at work but I wanted to post a quick couple of pictures. Cora, her Daddy and I met up with Cora's Aunt Jaclyn and went to the zoo on Saturday. For the sake of giving you something to look at, I'm posting a couple of pictures from our trip. I'll be sure Miss Cora Jane posts some more pictures tonight so as not to leave you hanging.

Quick news flash: Cora has gotten another tooth on her bottom jaw. That totals five and we have another one about to break through on the top. I'm amazed at how wonderfully she's handling the teething business. Much less whiney than I was not so many years ago when my own wisdom teeth were coming in. She's a champ.

Just wanted to share this week's Chair and Bear picture with you!

Also, NEWS FLASH! I got two more tooths! Well, one and a half. One of my top teeth broke through and the other one will prolly be poking through tomorrow! In celebration, I ate a Vanilla Wafer. Like, I actually bit it and stuff. Mom's been trying to get a picture, but I'm being none two cooperative! I'll see if I feel like letting her get a peek with the camera and if I do, I'll be sure to show it to you here.

This morning I played with my books for a little while...

And then we went swimming with Aunt Faren and Alex! It was totally fun! Well, at first I was a little freaked out. But once I got used to it I started splashing and having fun. It was too cool. Maybe we'll go every Saturday morning. I like to hang out with Alex. She even shared some goldfish snacks with me when we were done.

Hey everbody! We're all doing well here! Just a quick heads up. From now on we reserve the right to post on Thursday. Mom works on Wednesday, and though our life has certainly taken a turn toward the less chaotic, it's still kind of a pain to get this done on Wednesday.

This has been an exciting week for no other reason than my Stubborn Taurean shows no signs of abating. Mom says I'm a piece o' work. One she admires greatly!

Dear Readers,

I wanted you to hear it from me first. It would seem that Mom and Dad have made a decision regarding my future and I wanted to enlighten you. You see, last night was an interesting evening. Mom picked me up from daycare and you might say I was, erm, well I'd say I was a little out of sorts. Mom said I was being a stinker.

Upon arriving home, Mom set me on the floor to see if I wanted to play with my toys. I didn't. So I whined. She picked me up. I didn't want that either. So I whined. And pushed her away. So she set me in the high chair to see if I wanted to eat. I did. Sort of. Actually I took my Cheerios, held them over the side of the high chair, and as Mom looked at me sternly and said, "No, Cora Jane!" I dropped them one by one on the floor. And then I cried 'cause I had none to eat.

Then Daddy got home. I gave him my biggestest winningest smile, knowing that I was working Mom over and quickly running out of allies. Dad was pleased. But then it got old being all sweet baby again, so I whined and fussed all the way through my bathtime. (Except when Dad was playing with those washcloth puppets, I love those guys).

By the time bathtime was done, Mom professed it was close enough to bedtime for me to go to bed. She promised to finger through My Baby Book after I was asleep to look for a spot for "First Bratty Behavior." Hee. I worked them over.

With all of that said, they've decided to send me to Boarding School posthaste. I started to whine again and Mom said to call someone who cares.

PS- Before you get all concerned, just remember what day today is. Even babies are allowed to tell April Fool's jokes aren't they? Except I wasn't really kidding about the bratty stuff! I did all that! You'll be pleased as punch to know that I am much better today.

This is me calling someone who cares. But the darn phone won't work! Mom, if you're going to give me such a directive, at least make sure I have the proper equipment to carry the directive out!

Well, we'll see you in a couple days! If you haven't heard from us in a bit, don't worry. We've all had a nasty flu. Mom and Dad say I was the least of a baby about the whole thing. They spent most of their time vying for the use of the bathroom, but I'm lucky with my diaper and I have no compunction about where I regurgitate my lunch. But, we're all recovering, slowly but surely.

Which led to a little embarrassment when he stood behind my high chair taking our order and I decided to play with it.

I'd like to welcome my new second cousin to the world, Ryan David. Can't wait to meet you! Congrats Aunt Jenny and Uncle Rob! And Mom would like to tell you how great you look Aunty Jenny! Kudos!

So, we have a BIG surprise in store for you! I bet you can't wait!

Are you surprised? By the fact that we're EARLY? And not late? Although, most of you won't probably find out until tomorrow morning. Or night. Or the next day. You're all creatures of habit, and we've been a little slack. Can't blame you so much.

A couple of noteworthy events...

I've started signing milk, most urgently in the morning when I'm looking for my fix. Mom's coffee comes second to my milk fix, of course. She's a good Mom like that. Or smart, you might say.

I crawl now. Backwards. In Baby World, that's great progress.

The other day I went to play with my friends, Alex, Brody, and Emma. You've met them all before. I'm sure there are other posts with my little buddies, too, but we're feeling early, not zealous today! You'll have to find them yourself if you're that curious. We make you work here, we do...

40 Weeks

So, much has been going on these days! First, I'm 40 weeks old (9 months). This is exciting, and maybe a little sad. I've now been outside of Mommy's belly longer than I was inside. She may have let out a little sniffle. Or two.

Also, I had my nine month appointment. Here are the stats:

Height: 25" (5th percentile)
Weight: 18.2 Lbs (40th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.75" (75th percentile)

There you have it. At first, the doctor came into the examining room and said he wanted to double check my head circumference because it sounded a little, erm, big. But then, he took one look at Daddy and said, "But it might be accurate." Hee hee. I have a big old Daddy noggin. And Mom would like to point out that I still wear 0-3 month shoes. I have teeny Mommy feet. At this rate, she wonders if I'll ever be able to support myself walking!

Daddy likes to give me crazy bathtub hair.

I love my bathtime!

We went to the aquarium on Monday. It was fun! Although this time I was much more interested in the people there than the fish!

I'm a big girl now! I eat Cheerios and everything!

We had a blast!

Did I mention how much I love my bath?

Treinta y Nueve Semanas!

Gah! It's been a crazy week! Sorry so late!

I love to show off my two tooths!

I've got this sitting thing down! Now I'm starting to work on crawling! Mom and Dad are getting a little too spoiled by finding me in the same place they left me. I'm gonna shake that up a bit!

That's my buddy, Zack!

I like to eat Daddy's glasses. Please don't mind the mess behind us! Daddy tore down the fake bricks on that wall only to find that once upon a time there was not, in fact, drywall there!

On Wednesdays and Fridays I chill with Daddy while Mommy is working. This Friday it was beautiful, so we hung out outside! I love me some fresh air!

Week 37

We had a great time in Chicago visiting with everyone! On both flights people remarked afterward that they didn't even know there was a baby behind them. Daddy's driving Aunt Colleen's jeep home as I, or my lovely secretary, type. When Mommy flew home with me yesterday, as the plane was landing I started to fuss a bit (for the first time, I might mention) and she joked that I was free to cry all I wanted now that we landed, she was just happy I didn't start an hour before. Everyone around us on the plane laughed and said what a good baby I was.

Anywho, onto the good stuffs.

Volume XXXVI

Okay, okay! We've been super slack and we admit it!

Tomorrow we are going to Chicago to see Grandma and Grandpa! We're very excited. It's been a hectic week (heck, it's been hectic since the holidays!) and it will be nice to get away.

Mom and Dad think I was worth the wait...I think, well, anyone would be plain silly to argue with that!

Check out my two tooths! I'm a little out of season, but babies can get away with stuff like that. This is the outfit Grandpa bought right after I was born. He and Grandma were going out to dinner with friends (who, for the record, were of the understanding that I wasn't going to be born until the 21st of May, being a scheduled c-section and all) the night I was born. When Grandpa showed them this little pink outfit he'd bought that day they all said, "Well, we thought you weren't going to know if it was a boy or a girl until the baby is born!" That's when they dropped the surprise! I'd shown up early, all girly and whatnot!

I'm a sittin' fool! You fools got nothin' on me!

My Dad is a goofy one!

And lastly...Promise you won't worry 'cause everything's okay, and Mommy's thanking goodness I wasn't in daycare and was home with Daddy when she was heading home from work today so I wasn't in the car. Anyways...

Mom was going up to Daddy's work to pick up a laptop cord for our trip tomorrow. While she was heading uphill, a bus was heading down and its rear end started sliding around and ran her right into a snow bank. She just got a little bump on the noggin. And she's really glad she didn't fill the gas tank, as she'd planned on doing after she picked up the cord. Dad can't believe this jalopy made the two mile drive home! And we're feeling awfully lucky to be picking up Aunt Colleen's old Jeep Wrangler in Chicago, being one car short and all.

Well, I'll tell you all about my adventures with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Colleen and Uncle Nick, and Uncle Tim when I get back! Here is a video to keep you company while I'm gone!

We're all wore out around here. I only have a couple of photos, but hopefully as the holiday passes, we'll have a little time to catch our breath around here.

We went to Mom's work Christmas party...

I got a present. It was cool. And tasted good, too.

Mom works with a lady who had a baby the same day I was born! I'm just two and a half hours older! Meet Zula!

Cora: Hey, so, got any tips on hair growth? I'm working on my lovely locks!

This is my friend Amadou. He's from Senegal and works with Mom. Whenever I go to work with her we always hang out! He wore an outfit just like me! It's his traditional Muslim party gear! We're best buds.

One of Mommy's best friends, Susan, watches me on Sunday sometimes. I go to church with her and see all of my friends who prayed for my safe arrival when Mommy went on bedrest. We're forever grateful to Susan for asking everyone to pray for me. Susan said everyone at church looks forward to my visits!

Susan's husband, Johnny, and her sons, Brandon and Josh, dressed me up in a Santa hat! I accesorized by dressing myself up in peaches!

You'd think Santa already showed up around here! I guess that's what Grandmas and Mommoms are for!

I eat everything! Still not seeing any teeth on the horizon, but I'll keep you informed!

Aunt Michelle and cousin Stan and I on the way home from the airport. We stopped at Kermit's, a tradition when Mom picks someone up from the airport, to chow on some homemade chili. Well, actually, I passed on the chili. I've got gas enough!

Take me out to the...Wait a minute...Dang!

Apparently I've grown into my Cubs onesie just a little too late. I'm not one who likes to be late to the game. Can you tell?

When Mom first told me the Cubs were out of the playoffs, I was incredulous...

And then just a little bit sad...

So, I decided to drown my sorrows in a nice big bottle of milk...

Um, yo Mom! What the heck is it you put in these bottles, anyway?

Dude, I have a bubble mohawk! And, it's of the huggies baby wash variety. NOT Palmolive!

Well, I'm going to make like a tree and leave! My cousin Stan and Mommom and Aunt Michelle are visiting this week! Woot woot! I can't wait! We'll have plenty of photos of our adventures for you to peruse next week. Until then...

There is Something Fishy About Being Twenty One Weeks...

This week blew me outta the water, I tell ya! Me and Mom and Dad went to Denver for two days and stayed in a hotel and everything! We visited the aquarium and all of its inhabitants. Everything went swimmingly. Okay, I'm over it with the puns.

Ahem. So, I started getting a little coughy and stuff toward the end of our trip and Mom brought me to the doctor when we got home. Dr. N is a really nice guy. He has three little girls himself and always tells me he thought there were no more little girls to be had in his family, but seeing me makes him want another one! Doesn't surprise me much that I'd inspire such thoughts! Anyway, I'm all healthy and stuff, just a little cold, which is completely normal for babies building up brand new immune systems. Good to know. Also, I weigh 13 pounds, 8 ounces. I'm more than twice as big as when I was born. Holy cow, I'm growing up so quick!

Hey, so, um, Dad, do you kind of get the feeling we're being watched?

Now, I know I'm getting big and all, but I gotta say, I think that turtle's got me beat in the BIG turtle department!

The sea otter was so happy to see me and Dad, s/he couldn't stop doing tricks and flips. I took notes for future encounters with diving boards!

Dad wanted me to experience the aquarium first hand. Or foot. But not quite.

I'm beginning to wonder how cute and affectionate of a nickname Turtle was. Turtles aren't looking quite adorable to me after this excursion!

I kicked back for a bit while Mom and Dad enjoyed a frothy adult beverage at an Irish pub after the aquarium. They laughed at how I like to prop my feet up on the stroller.

Mom's always giving me kisses. I figure I won't battle her on it 'til I'm in school and have friends and stuff. Then I'll tell her she's embarrassing me.

Dad picked out this turtle for me at the aquarium. It's nice and soft and now my dinosaur and I have another bedtime buddy.

Twenty Weeks

Greetings and Salutations to all of my baby buddies and my big people buddies! I'm happy to be your host here this week at Cora Jane's blog. Aw heck, I'm happy to be your host here every dang week. I just can't hide my enthusiasm...

It's been an exciting time here in Casa de Cora Jane, as you very lucky people might be aware by the sneak preview you were given! I am enjoying some sustenance NOT of the liquid variety...

I pretty much dig the heck out of it, and Mom and Dad can't get the food in my belly, or on my face, or on my bib, or in my hair, or, well, you get the picture... fast enough!

I am a demanding patron of this fine dining facility!

There's a mouse in the house!

The other day, I was checking myself out in the mirror. You know, flexing and blowing kisses and stuff. Or maybe it was bubbles I was blowing. Anyway, I digress. I got to thinking, "Cora Jane, you are one sassy baby!" Just thought I'd share the inner workings of my melon with you, my fine friends.

Man, for being just a little baby, I sure can rock! I bet you're just awestruck by my rocking capabilities. I know Mr. Bear is. He didn't even have to say a word. I could see it in his expression. The way he stares at me with a look of adoration on his face. It's kind of adorable being admired so much.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm afraid it's that time. Time for me to go. I'd love to stay, but really, if I hung out here all day, there would be nothing exciting to report to you next week! Until then...

Nineteen Weeks

Hey everybody! I'm happy to report that things are all hunky dory in Cora Jane Land. We're hanging out waiting for snow. Winter is coming already around here. I guess I'll have to get used to that!

Mom and Dad hosted a party at our new house with the big back yard and fire pit. The party was to send off our friends, Lee, Kijah, Riley and Beaur. Here is a picture of me and Beaur and Kijah and Mom. Beaur is just a couple of months older than me. We'll miss them.

I've started eating my Taggy! Actually, I've started eating everything. I have indiscriminate taste, I guess you could say.

I like to chill on the couch in my jammies and watch the morning news with Mom and Dad.

You know it, baby! I'm one smart news-watching cookie!

I practice sitting. A lot. I'm not a big fan of laying down anymore.

Check it out! I have my orange walls back! Mom and Dad finally had my new nursery painted.

Eighteen Weeks

Betcha you were scared! Aww, don't worry. I'd never be so cruel as to deprive you of your Cora fix! See, I just like to keep things unpredictable around here! No telling what time of the day I'll give you my update!

Sometimes I like to sneak a cat nap in here and there. So does the cat.

Mom and Dad are thrilled at the latest trick I pulled out of my sleeve. Grabbing things! Check me out!

Oh yeah! That's right!

Look what Granny K got me! Mom says at the rate I'm growing, I'll be playing with this tea set before she knows it!

I like to get in a good workout now and again. I even have my sassy workout suit!

Well, this monkey is outta here! I've got a gourmet bottle to be had and a date with my crib and a couple of dinosaurs!

Seventeen Weeks

Mommy says that a year ago yesterday she found out she was pregnant with me! So that means, just last September, I was smaller than a grain of rice! And just look at me now!

Daddy thinks it's cute how I sleep like this. Mommy thinks it's cuter in my crib. Because when I'm sleeping like this in my pajamas on the couch, it might mean that she spent a little time there in the wee hours, too.

One must be very chic to pull off a flower on one's bum.

It's a good thing this big old world came with a bunch of people to make me laugh! If you ask me, that seems to be their sole purpose for being here!

(Sweet) Sixteen Weeks

Dear Diary,

I'm probably going to go easy on the writing today because, after all, I'm only just a baby with a Grandma and Grandpa to play with, so time is precious!

This week I got to hang out with Alex, my Colorado cousin! She's Mom and Dad's friends' daughter. My Aunt Faren and Uncle Keith are part of our Colorado family!

Hee hee.

Daddy took me to get my ski pass! Mom says I'm probably better than her already! Both agree that I look like a snowboarder. It's all in the 'tude.

Why is it that everyone wants to talk to me when I'm trying to watch the morning news? Dad, dude, your sock is RIGHT THERE! I don't know why you're asking me where it is!

There's just no peace and quiet around here. What is a girl to do?
